There’s still a long way to go for Everton in this transfer window and a number of arrivals and departures can take place. EFC would like to hold onto some of their top players like Jordan Pickford, Amadou Onana and Dominic Calvert-Lewin but the interest keeps on brewing for the Everton stars.

The Toffees have now managed to escape relegation for two consecutive seasons and Sean Dyche is adamant not to fall in the relegation battle for third season in running. Players like Pickford and Onana were cornerstones of EFC’s battle to safety and if Everton are to avoid a precarious situation for third time in three seasons, they need to strengthen the squad and at the same time make sure that key players do not leave.

Calvert-Lewin has endured two very difficult seasons, picking up major injuries and missing the majority of games in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. He scored the all important goal against Crystal Palace in 2022 that ensured EFC’s safety. Barring injuries, the 26 year old has been one of the best Everton forwards in recent years and a treat to watch when fit and firing.

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a possible target for AS Roma

Despite his injury worries, he is attracting interest this summer. According to Corriere dello Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb), Everton forward Calvert-Lewin has been offered to Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma. The Italians are looking for a striker after Tammy Abraham picked up an ACL injury which will rule him out for almost the entire 2023-24 season. West Ham United’s Gianluca Scamacca has also been a player heavily linked but it appears that the Serie A side is also considering Calvert-Lewin.

Dyche wants to remodel the attack and is keen to bring at least two strikers to the Everton side. EFC are failing to land their desired targets as Viktor Gyokeres, Moussa Dembele and El Bilal Toure have all joined other sides despite efforts from the Merseysiders to sign them. The Toffees are still looking for strikers in the market while remaining open to offload Neal Maupay.

Ellis Simms has left for Coventry City and Tom Cannon could depart on loan as Preston North End remain hopeful of bringing him back to Deepdale. Calvert-Lewin, on his day, could be a fearsome striker but injuries have ravaged his last two seasons. If EFC are able to get him fit and running, there is no reason to not believe in the Englishman’s talents and abilities.
