Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is attracting interest from Italy as Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma remain keen to bring the Englishman. The 26 year old striker endured a forgetful 2022-23 season, where he missed more than 50% of the games because of injury.

The absence of Calvert-Lewin heavily affected EFC in the attack as the Toffees struggled to get goals all season. The Merseysiders scored 34 goals in 38 Premier League games, which was the second lowest goal tally in the league. The Englishman’s form and confidence took a severe hit but even when he lead the frontline, he looked the most dangerous forward for EFC.

Everton are expected to sign two strikers in the summer and they did come close to signing El Bilal Toure but in the end Atalanta won the race. With several changes expected in the attack, concerns over Calvert-Lewin continued to rise.

Everton stance on Dominic Calvert-Lewin

The 26 year old is a target for Roma with the Serie A club wanting to take Calvert-Lewin on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy. The Giallorossi want to sign a forward as a replacement to Tammy Abraham who suffered an ACL injury and will miss almost the entire 2023-24 season.

According to i News, EFC are aware of the interest generated in Calvert-Lewin and have taken a clear stance on the England striker. Sean Dyche is not interested in loaning out Calvert-Lewin, who is one of the key players at the club. Calvert-Lewin remains to be an integral part of the club’s plans and EFC is working to bring in strikers that can reduce the goalscoring burden from the Englishman’s shoulders.

The Merseysiders have already missed out on several of their striker targets and cannot afford to lose more time. The Toffees must be vigilant in the market and make moves as quickly as possible. Neal Maupay’s future remains in doubt and if he also departs, EFC will be left with just Calvert-Lewin and Tom Cannon in the strike force.

Cannon is a top target for Preston North End with the Championship side eyeing another loan. Interestingly, EFC are ready to send Cannon out on loan this season, which would leave them with just Calvert-Lewin as the sole striker. Dyche cannot gamble upon the Englishman’s fitness and EFC cannot go into the new season with just one reliable striker.

Will Dominic Calvert-Lewin be EFC’s top scorer this season?
