Everton are eyeing more reinforcements in the attack department after signing Arnaut Danjuma on loan. Signing a striker remains a priority for the Toffees but they are also looking to add another winger to the squad with Wilfried Gnonto being a top target. However, EFC have now started to draw a list of alternatives of Gnonto and Tete has emerged as an option.
EFC have been tracking Gnonto for months. There have been several contrasting reports in Gnonto’s pursuit with one claiming that the Toffees had their bid accepted for the Italian but another report suggested that EFC had their bid rejected.
The 19 year old was said to be keen on moving to Goodison Park and EFC could table a bid that would reach £20.1 million. Leeds United want to keep hold of Gnonto despite their relegation as they consider the Italian as a core member of the team that will push for promotion in the 2023-24 season.
Everton consider Tete as Wilfried Gnonto alternative
Most recently, reports claimed that Everton were in pole position to sign Gnonto despite Napoli and other sides showing interest in the 19 year old winger. However, talkSPORT claims Gnonto is not completely convinced about moving to Goodison Park. The Italian is high on Dyche’s list of targets but Gnonto’s advisers are not completely sold on the idea of signing for EFC.
The communication channels remain open for now but the Toffees are already drawing up a list of alternatives for 19 year old. Shakhtar Donetsk star Tete is on EFC’s wish list. The 23 year old spent the second half of the season on loan at Leicester City. Everton were one of the interested parties in Tete in January but Leicester were quick to seal a loan move for the Brazilian.
In 14 appearances for the Foxes, Tete netted just one goal and failed to carry the momentum throughout the season. Tete has a market value of €25 million but it remains to be seen if EFC are willing to pay such a sum to the Ukrainian side.
EFC had been working on Gnonto’s deal since April and a failure to bring him to Goodison Park will definitely affect Everton’s hopes. However, EFC have been quick to draw the alternatives with Tete being one of them. Everton will definitely need reinforcements on the flanks if Demarai Gray is sold amid interest from Crystal Palace.
Will EFC make a push for Tete?
