Everton XI vs Bournemouth: Blues boss has to pick attacking side
This afterrnon at 3 o’clock Everton have a massive, huge, must-win, call it what you want match and manager Sean Dyche has to get his team selection and tactics right today.
I think it is particularly important after the Luton defeat that whoever in his team Dyche picks and whatever formation they line up in, it must be a positive one.
So, here is my team for this afternoon’s game at Goodison Park.
Jordan Pickford
Obviously, Pickford to continue in goal.
James Tarkowski
The experienced centre-back is another clear choice given his consistently solid performances.
Jarrad Branthwaite
Once again Branthwaite, who has of course just signed a new contract, is an obvious selection.
Nathan Patterson
Unluky not to be in the side last weekend, the Scottish international should return at right-back.
Vitalii Mykolenko
Although he was at fault for one of Luton’s goals last Saturday, I don’t see an alternative to him as Ashley Young was also very poor and looks very much as though age has finally caught up with him.
James Garner
The summer signing should get a chance to start in the centre of midfield after impressive performances at Brentford and most particularly, Aston Villa.
Amadou Onana
Onana to slot in central midfield alongside Garner.
Dwight McNeil
Not at his best last weekend for sure, but he offers genuine creativity when he does perfrom and I would have him line up alongside Garner and Onana in a 4-3-3 formation but with the license to get forward as much as possible.
Arnaut Danjuma
The Dutch attacker has shown glimpses of his ability but he really needs to kick on and begin replaying the support Everton fans have shown in him. A goal today would be a good start.
Jack Harrison
Leeds loanee Harrison should get a chance to start today and show what he can offer the Blues attack from the off.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Once more Calvert-Lewin is my choice to start up front instead of Beto, after scoring three goals in his last three games.
This is my team but there are possible alternatives in several positions. Whoever plays this afternoon for Everton, they must find a way to win this match.
