Everton needed to start this season strong after fading away at the end of the last campaign. The transfer window did not go to plan; they lost Ilyman Ndiaye and ended it with just one senior centre-forward. Despite this, David Moyes' side are still undefeated so far.
3 Everton winners heading into the international break
Thierno Barry
With Beto going to Fiorentina, Everton thought that they were getting another striker, Folarin Balogun. However, the USMNT international's move from AS Monaco fell through on deadline day. This has left the Toffees with just Barry as their only recognised centre-forward. Barry scored in the win over Crystal Palace on the opening weekend of the season. He then bagged the winner in the recent win over Ipswich Town.
Jarrad Branthwaite
Branthwaite has played every minute for Everton in the Premier League so far this season. He has been a rock and has earned a recall to the England national team. There are now three Toffees in Thomas Tuchel's squad, with James Garner and Jordan Pickford too.
Jordan Pickford
Pickford has so far kept three clean sheets and only conceded three goals in Everton's first five Premier League games. The long-term England number one will expect to add to his 91 caps this international break.
3 losers heading into the international break
Christian Nørgaard
Nørgaard was signed from Arsenal over the summer after lacking game time with the Premier League champions. However, he has yet to feature for Everton as he has been suffering from a groin injury. Nørgaard was a very highly rated player when he was at Brentford, but his career is in freefall.
Merlin Röhl
Röhl joined Everton permanently over the summer from Freiburg. However, he is already injured. Röhl has not featured in the Toffees' last two Premier League games. His first season on loan at the club was poor, as he also struggled with injuries and made just 16 league appearances in total.
Tyler Dibling
Dibling shone for Southampton when they were relegated from the Premier League two seasons ago. However, since joining Everton, he has lacked game time. So far, he has made just one appearance in the league this campaign, which was a cameo in the win over Ipswich.
Everton needs players like Dibling to step up, especially after selling Ndiaye to Manchester City in the summer. The arrival of Jack Grealish from City will further limit Dibling's playing opportunities. Despite this, Dibling has still been called up for the England Under-21 squad, so there is still hope for the young player.
