Brazilian international Richarlison was at Everton during those nervy relegation battles that defined the first part of this decade, and when he was shipped off to Tottenham for £60 million with add-ons back in 2022, that move was meant to be one where he could reach the next level.

Although he was able to win the Europa League with Tottenham last season under the leadership of Ange Postecoglou, he was unable to win the UEFA Super Cup against PSG.

Spurs were winning 2-0 entering the last five minutes of regular time, but two quickfire goals from PSG sent the game to penalties, and Tottenham even had the advantage in pens after Vitinha missed PSG's first. Unfortunately for Richarlison, he had to watch from the sidelines since he was subbed off in the 72nd minute.

Although Richarlison didn't register a goal contribution, he was key when it came to pressing PSG's defensive line. Toffee fans were used to seeing him give everything on the defensive side of the ball when he played at Goodison Park. Tottenham fans quickly criticized Thomas Frank's decision to sub him off, saying that he was one of the team's hardest workers during the match.

Despite his success at Tottenham, Richarlison has always had a soft spot for Everton, including interacting with fans after matches. Reports also came out that Everton were exploring the possibility of bringing him back to the team in May.

Unfortunately for fans, he seems to have found his place in Thomas Frank's starting 11, and Everton have moved on with the club recently signing Thierno Barry to back up Beto for the upcoming season.
