The Premier League is featuring three Tuesday night matchups today as it kicks off a rather busy run of festive features and rolls into the new year.
Those matches are Fulham taking on Manchester City at Craven Cottage, Newcastle hosting Tottenham, and Everton's trip to the south coast to take on Bournemouth.
Everton is coming off a rather poor showing on Saturday, when they hosted Newcastle at home, losing 4-1 in an overall terrible match for the Toffees. The club will be looking to rebound and earn a result against the Cherries tonight.
Bournemouth features one of the Premier League's best players in Antoine Semenyo, with the Ghana international bagging six goals and three assists in 12 matches this season.
A win for either side would be massive, as it would launch that club into the top half of the table.
Match Notes
Everton currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League on 18 points, while Bournemouth are just ahead of them in 11th on 19 points. Both clubs are within six points of 4th placed Aston Villa, giving some indication of how congested the table is through 13 matches.
While the overall record between the two clubs in recent years is fairly even (11 wins for the Cherries, 7 for Everton, and 2 draws since 2015), Bournemouth has won the last four competitive matchups. Everton's last win came on October 7, 2023, a 3-0 win at Goodison Park featuring goals from James Garner, Jack Harrison, and Abdoulaye Doucoure.
The home side has lost three of their last five matches, with a draw against West Ham and a home win over Nottingham Forest helping to salvage their recent form. They lost away to Sunderland over the weekend.
Over that same period, Everton have the big home losses to Totttenham and Newcastle sandwiching a draw at Sunderland and wins over Fulham and Manchester United.
The Toffees will continue to be without Jarrad Branthwaite, Nathan Patterson, Seamus Coleman, and Merlin Röhl due to injury, while Idrissa Gana Gueye will face the final match of his red card suspension.
Bournemouth have three suspended players in center back Marocs Senesi, midfielder Lewis Cook, and winger David Brooks, with midfielder Ryan Christie and winger Ben Gannon Doak out due to injury. Defender Matai Akinmboni is doubtful with an injury as well.
