Championship striker linked with an Everton move

Everton rumors are beginning to fly fast and furious now, as the end of June is approaching, meaning players will be officially out of contract with their old clubs and free to sign elsewhere. It also means the start of a new fiscal year and will likely signal when the Toffees' brass can truly begin the transfer window in earnest.

All that to say, Everton have their eye on a lot of players that can help them score goals, and with a move for Villarreal's Thierno Barry possibly moving forward, there may be help on the horizon. But Everton aren't putting all their eggs in that proverbial basket.

Instead, a new link finds the club interested in Millwall striker Mihailo Ivanovic. The young Serbian only just arrived in England after just one full season with Vojvodina of the Serbian Super Liga, but he appears to be a quick learner.

The Serbian international netted 13 times for the London club on an xG of 8.5 en route to the club's 8th place finish, just two points off the final playoff spot.

And so, even though Ivanovic only just turned 20 in November and has a mere two full seasons of professional football under his belt, it's possible that David Moyes is interested in trying to recreate the Tim Cahill path to Everton stardom.

The major difference between Cahill and Ivanovic is experience. The Australian had over 8000 minutes and 100 appearances for Millwall, as opposed to the Serbian's 2300 minutes and 40 appearances.

But if Ivanovic comes to Merseyside and he scores goals, nobody will remember where he came from or how much experience he had.

The price, it appears, would be reasonable, especially considering Ivanovic would be a depth piece if he came to Everton rather than a nailed-on starter. But it almost feels like the club would be trading one developmental striker for another, as Ivanovic's arrival would truly signal a loan spell for Youssef Chermiti.

The case for Ivanovic over Chermiti might be that the former has shown himself to be more of a goal scoring threat than the latter, but neither player has the minutes to come to a fully drawn conclusion either way.
