Crystal Palace and Tottenham 2025 success should give Everton hope of trophies next season

The 2024/25 season has rewritten the script for English football. With Crystal Palace lifting silverware for the first time in their history and Tottenham finally ending their long wait for a major trophy, this campaign has proven that the traditional hierarchy of the Premier League can be disrupted. Does this mean Everton's time is next?

Seeing the likes of Crystal Palace, Newcastle, and Tottenham lift trophies this season has been a breath of fresh air for clubs outside the so-called ‘big teams.’

Their success has broken the usual stranglehold of Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool, clubs that have long dominated the latter stages of major competitions. This year’s results are a powerful reminder that success is no longer exclusive to the elite, and they serve as real motivation for others to believe, rebuild, and strive for more.

Everton are no exception. The club can draw inspiration from these breakthrough moments as they look to end their own silverware drought. The Toffees last lifted a major trophy in 1995, when Dave Watson hoisted the FA Cup at the old Wembley. A return to the FA Cup final in 2009 brought hope, but ultimately ended in heartbreak against Chelsea. Now, as other clubs prove it’s possible to rewrite the trophy barren narrative, Everton must believe they can do the same.

Departures, a sense of momentum, and the move to a new home can serve as the foundation for a fresh blueprint at Everton, one that could finally lead to silverware. Under David Moyes, the Toffees have rediscovered some of their old resilience, picking up crucial away results and maintaining strong form at Goodison Park in what has become a fitting farewell season, possible fundamentals that can spark these runs.

Of course, a touch of luck is always part of the equation, but David Moyes brings something just as valuable: a deep understanding of knockout football. His success in guiding West Ham to a Europa Conference League title proves he knows what it takes to navigate the high-stakes moments. That same blend of tactical discipline and belief has underpinned the trophy-winning campaigns of both Crystal Palace and Tottenham this season.

For clubs like Everton, it’s a reminder that with the right leadership and a willingness to dream, from both players and fans, silverware is far from out of reach.

The off-season and making the right choices will determine whether Everton can have a successful 2025/26 season. With the right structure, smart recruitment, and a renewed sense of identity, there's no reason they can't follow the lead of Crystal Palace, Newcastle, or Tottenham.

The message from 2025 is clear: the Premier League is no longer the exclusive playground of the elite. The door is open — Everton just need to be bold enough to walk through it to reap the rewards.
