Everton connected with exciting young winger from relegated side

Ipswich Town are going down, which means many of their players could be available at cut rates. Everton appear keen to take advantage.

One of the downsides, among many, of football clubs being relegated is the sudden loss of revenue that comes from playing in England's top league. This leads to many of those clubs having to cut wages and off-load players in order to stay afloat.

Those players tend to be loaned to clubs who agree to pay a large chunk of the wages or sold at rates that might be less than the now-relegated club might otherwise.

Such is the case with Ipswich Town, who played in the Premier League for the first time since the 2001/02 season last year, only to go right back down to the Championship after finishing 19th in the top flight.

The Tractor Boys have already lost striker Liam Delap to Chelsea, and it appears that Everton are paying attention to another one of their players: winger Omari Hutchinson. The Toffees are reportedly joined by Brentford, West Ham, and Fulham, along with RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund in the race for the player's signature.

Hutchinson was a player we mentioned as someone to keep an eye on from the relegated clubs a few months ago, as he's still a young player (he'll turn 23 in late October) with Premier League experience, who has shown himself to be a capable starter in the league.

The England U21 international has played on the right and more centrally during his career, so he could provided another versatile chess piece for David Moyes.

It may come down to the fee and how hard Everton want to push for his signature. Transefrmrkt has the value somewhere around £22 million, while the Daily Mail said the fee would be closer to £30 million.

It still isn't clear how much money Everton have to spend, but it certainly won't be done until after the start of the new fiscal year on July 1. Until then, the links will keep on coming.
