Everton interested in Nigerian Star for a cheap price

With the Toffees looking to buy cover at several positions, this experienced midfielder could be an option for a ridiculously low price tag.

There's been a swirl of Everton news circulating the internet right now, but one of the most interesting ones is the possibility of the Toffees bringing in Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City. According to this report, Ndidi has a £9 million release clause, which Everton could be open to activating.

Ndidi is still only 28 years old but brings a plethora of Premier League and international experience. This past season, he notched five assists for Leicester City, who were relegated to the EFL Championship.

As things stand, Idrissa Gueye hasn't signed a new contract with Everton, and Abdoulaye Doucoure is gone. Harrison Armstrong has returned from a successful EFL Championship loan with Derby County and could compete for first-team minutes, but he's still young and inexperienced.

Going after Ndidi, in my opinion, would be the perfect midfield signing this summer for Everton, regardless of Gueye's possible Everton contract and Armstrong's role next season. I'd love to see him next to Gueye in a double pivot, but with the positional freedom to ping long balls to both wings and advance plays, since his right foot is absolutely spectacular.

If Everton can pull this signing off, they'd be able to invest heavily on the wings and at fullback, which, as we all know, is a topic of vast discussion right now. It feels like I mention Everton's financial flexibility in every article nowadays, but it's important not to understate the importance of this transfer window on the future of this club.

They could genuinely turn back into a top-half side if they play their cards right, and signing Wilfred Ndidi would be a step in the right direction.
