According to Daily Express writer Charlie Gordon, Everton FC have Mohamed Diomande "on a list of midfield transfer targets for the summer."
The Ivory Coast international played 54 matches in all competitions and got 15 G/A (with three of those coming in the Europa League). Diomande is known for his ability to play multiple positions, which include left wing, all central midfield positions, and, according to Gordon, left back.
Although Everton do have decent options at left wing, Diomande being able to play left back as an emergency option would be great, because Vitalii Mykolenko is the only Premier League caliber player at that position right now. However, I wholeheartedly believe that if he's brought in, it would be to fill in for Doucoure.
When it comes to paying for him, TransferMarkt lists him as having a value of seven million Euros, a manageable fee for Everton.
So, should Everton pursue this player during the summer?
Considering that he's only 23 and had a good run of form in the Europa League, I would love to see him slot into the squad next season. If Everton was to grow as a club, these types of players that have high upside could become strong Premier League players for multiple seasons.
Looking at the roster as a whole, he could play as a 10 and as a left winger, which would give David Moyes the ability to rotate him with Dwight McNeil, Iliman Ndiaye, and Charly Alcaraz if needed.
Diomande checks all the boxes for the type of midfielder Everton should bring in this summer. If he does end up being the guy, Everton will still have money to spend on a right back and a right winger.
