Everton need more from Jack Grealish to take home three points against Man United

The Toffees are back from yet another international break, and if they want to succeed against Manchester United, they’ll have to rely on their loan star to shine bright.

There is no doubt that Manchester City-loaned Jack Grealish has bumped up the floor of Everton’s quality substantially since signing with the club. However, fans are hoping that Grealish can add more goals to his list of contributions.

Grealish has only scored one goal so far with the Toffees, and it came from the Englishman being at the right place at the right time against Crystal Palace. We haven’t seen Grealish put himself in dangerous situations like Iliman Ndiaye has on the right.

Grealish has been able to tack on a fair few assists, but that number has stayed stagnant, partly due to Everton’s offensive woes, which could continue as the Toffees travel to Old Trafford.

Manchester United haven’t had a great season, but they still have quality players throughout their lineup. Everton’s defense is good, but they’ll surely give up at least one goal. Everton’s strikers have not produced goals, and Ndiaye can’t carry this team by himself.

Unless Thierno Barry magically takes another positive step, Grealish is Everton’s best bet. He’s been a creator for his entire career, and for the first time, it feels like he needs to become a finisher.

Now, Everton’s left side has struggled to defend, and Grealish pushing up even higher could result in more risk. However, Grealish has the quality to impact games just like Ndiaye does.

As December approaches and a decision on Grealish’s future at the club looms, going on a scoring run starting now could give Everton enough reason to keep him for a few more years.
