Youssef Chermiti’s time at Everton has come to an end. Unfortunate injuries plagued his progress, and he never found consistent minutes with the first team.

When Everton signed Youssef Chermiti from Sporting CP in 2023, fans were hoping that he would become the successor to Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Unfortunately, two years later, he has now completed a permanent move to Glasgow Rangers. The club officially announced his departure shortly after the summer transfer window closed. Chermiti has been considered surplus to requirements and will now start a new chapter in Scotland.

Chermiti wasn’t included in Everton’s squad against Wolves, and fans speculated that a move away from Merseyside was on the cards.

Now, the player has completed a permanent transfer away from the Premier League. Some fans thought that any move away would simply be a loan, so this transfer does come with a bit of shock. Everton now only have two strikers on the roster. If either Beto or Barry go down, the Toffees could be in trouble.

According to transfermarkt.com, Chermiti played 22 Premier League matches for Everton, and he didn’t notch a single goal. He had less than 250 minutes combined in those 22 appearances.

Moving to Rangers will give him the chance to start anew in a slightly easier league. Rangers are a big club, though, so there will be some pressure to perform. Chermiti always had loads of talent, but injuries kept him sidelined for so long that he never got a stretch of games to prove himself.

Everton’s announcement of the move never mentioned a sell-on fee or a buy-back clause, but considering the player’s age, it’s possible that Everton might still retain a bit of the player’s value and rights.
