After years of waiting and months of building anticipation since the final match at Goodison Park last season, the Hill Dickinson Stadium will officially open its doors for the first time, as Everton take on Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.

While the time slot isn't what many Toffees were hoping for (the Blues share the spot with Crystal Palace hosting Nottingham Forest), the match will be an exciting opportunity for Everton to show off its new stadium and, hopefully, for the club to get off to a better start than it did in Matchweek 1.

Despite not having an isolated time, the hope is that neutral fans will tune in to see the new stadium in all its glory.

Brighton are coming off a disappointing start to their campaign as well, as a late goal from Fulham's Rodrigo Muniz equalized a first-half penalty from Matthew O'Riley, as the sides shared the points at the Amex Stadium last Saturday.

Both Everton and Brighton will be looking to rebound from those matches and to get their respective seasons off to more resounding starts. For Everton, the circumstance of the afternoon will hopefully lead them to the first of many famous victories at the new stadium.

Injuries and notes

Everton will be without defenders Jarrad Branthwaite, Vitalii Mykolenko, and Nathan Patterson, but the rest of the thin squad appears ready to go, save for Adam Aznou, whose availability may be decided closer to kickoff.

Brighton will be missing Adam Webster and Solly March, with both Jack Hinshelwood and Carlos Baleba in contention to return to the squad after suffering injuries over the summer.

Since the 2021/22 campaign, the Toffees and Seagulls have faced off eight times, with Everton winning three times, Brighton taking all three points three times, with two draws. The most recent was a 1-0 away win for Everton this past January.

How to watch

The match will kick off at 2 PM in the UK and be broadcast on Sky Sports or via the Now TV app with a subscription.

In the United States, that kickoff time is 9 AM ET/8 AM CT/6 AM PT, and the match will be shown on USA Network/Telemundo, and NBC Sports.
