After a season of building up to this moment, the final men's first-team match at Goodison Park is nearly here, with Everton facing off against Southampton on Sunday.

Both clubs are coming off of good showings last weekend, with Everton overcoming a poor first half to rout Fulham at Craven Cottage 3-1, with goals from Vitalii Mykolenko, Michael Keane, and Beto giving earning the Toffees all three points, while Southampton managed a point at home against Manchester City in a scoreless draw.

But Sunday will be all about Everton's desire to close out their time at Goodison Park with a famous victory and Southampton wanting to play spoiler to the Toffees' celebration and become a trivia question answer for the rest of time.

The match will have a timeslot to itself, giving Everton and its fans a chance to send off the Grand Old Lady with as much fanfare as possible.

Here's all you need to know for Sunday's contest.

Current table position

Southampton have already been relegated back to the Championship, but last weekend's result assured they won't go down as the worst Premier League side in the history of the competition, as their 12 points eclipsed the 2007/08 Derby County side, who managed just 11 points all season.

Saturday's win in London allowed Everton to climb up to 13th with 42 points, quite an accomplishment given where the club stood when David Moyes took over.

The Toffees are unlikely to catch Crystal Palace, who are seven points clear of Everton with two matches to play. Everton can assure that neither Manchester United (16th on 39 points) nor Tottenham (17th on 38 points) can catch them in the table with a win on Sunday.

When and where is the match?

For one final time: Goodison Park on Goodison Road in Liverpool L4 in the United Kingdom.

Kickoff is scheduled for noon UK time on Sunday, May 18.

In the United States, that's 7 AM ET/6 AM CT/4 AM PT. Only the truly devoted fans will be up for this important moment in club history. The match will be televised on the USA Network in the States.

Matchup Notes

The trio of Orel Mangala, Jesper Lindstrom, and James Tarkowski remain out on season ending injuries for Everton. For Southampton, midfielder Albert Grønbæk (strain), left back Charlie Taylor (knock), and winger Ryan Fraser (discomfort) are expected to miss the match as well.

No word yet on the availability of Everton centerback Jake O'Brien, who suffered an injury late last week.

Everton are one of Southampton's two wins this season, with the Saints taking home all three points against the Sean Dyche-led Toffees 1-0 at Saint Mary's on an 85th-minute winner from Adam Armstrong on November 2.

Everton also lost on penalties in the EFL Cup to the Championship-bound club at Goodison on September 17, meaning the Toffees have accounted for 25% of Southampton's wins this season.

This has been a tough fixture for Everton in recent attempts, with the Merseyside club winning just once over the last five meetings, a 2-1 win at Saint Mary's in October of 2022.

David Moyes has faced Southampton 22 times as a manager, winning 8 and drawing 9 times.
