Game used for reference: Arsenal 2-1 Wolves, 2025/2026 Premier League Round 16
Arsenal, after years of meticulous building, look like a team with a great shot of winning the Premier League this season. While some question their methods and critique their style of football, it’s undeniable that Mikel Arteta has led his squad to great results.
Arsenal’s front four is among the best in the Premier League, with playmakers like Bukayo Saka, newcomer Eberechi Eze, and Gabriel Martinelli. Viktor Gyokeres has struggled a bit to adjust to the Premier League since his arrival, but nevertheless, he is strong and a threat to any backline that faces him.
Arsenal’s best quality by far this season has been their defense. William Saliba is still a young player all things considered, and Piero Hincapié was a great loan deal for the Gunners as an option at left-back. Jurrien Timber has some goal-scoring ability as well. Also, their set-piece routines are awesome on both sides of the pitch.
So, what can Everton do to slow down this Arsenal team? Well, having Jack Grealish and Merlin Röhl (not confirmed) available is a big positive, even though Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will miss the matchup due to injury. Röhl has shown flashes of quality in his few appearances, and Grealish has been one of Everton’s most important contributors this season.
Everton will need to force Arsenal to create chances from open play. If they can keep Arsenal in the middle of the pitch and keep the tempo stable, perhaps they could limit the Gunners’ ability to fully take control of the match.
