Game used for reference: Wolves 1-1 Spurs, 2025/2026 Premier League, Round 6
Tottenham finished near the relegation zone last season in the Premier League, but they also brought in their first trophy in 17 years with an Europa League victory over Manchester United. This season has seen them rise up to 7th in the standings, although their recent form hasn’t been spectacular.
Tottenham are a dangerous team, and their players combine well together. Richardson, Mo Kudus, and Xavi Simmons is a dynamic front three that can all rotate with one another. João Palhinha in the midfield is always a threat from long range, and Cristian Romero is one of the most balanced center backs in the Premier League.
If Everton want to win this match, they’ll need to control the midfield. Tottenham are very dangerous when they control the pace of play and rotate their players in different positions. Forcing them to stay in a particular shape will limit their runs and force them to be more defensive.
Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Grealish should be able to cause Tottenham some trouble, as their full backs aren’t great when it comes to defending. If they can exploit space in behind, fans can expect plenty of crosses into the box.
Either Beto or Thierno Barry will have a tough task ahead of them. Romero and Micky van de Ven are a great duo, and Everton’s strikers have struggled to bang in goals. A good performance from either of them could be a catalyst that drives their season forward.
Everton and Tottenham on paper aren’t too far apart, and considering Everton are playing at home yet again, they might be favored to pull out a positive result.
