Everton will not have the strongest contingent of players to represent them in the World Cup this summer, but those players who'll be part of the competition from the Blues' squad will be a strong one.
As of now, three of the four have been confirmed, with England manager Thomas Tuchel expected to name his final squad tomorrow, although it's all but certain that at least one Everton player will be on the roster.
There is always the outside chance of a surprise for that group (Everton center back Jarrad Branthwaite was on Tuchel's provisional list), but the likeliest outcome is that the four players listed here are the only Toffees who'll make the trip to North America this summer.
Nathan Patterson joins Scotland's team
The first Everton player to be announced as part of a World Cup squad is right back Nathan Patterson, who was named to Scotland's 26-man roster earlier in the week.
Patterson hasn't featured much for Everton since he joined from Rangers in January of 2022, as the 24-year-old defender has played in just 56 total matches for Everton (29 starts) for just 2872 minutes in five seasons with the club.
Some of that comes down to injuries, but it also seems fairly clear that the managers that have led Everton since he arrived, outside of the one who brought him to the club in the first place, simply don't rate him.
He's remained a steady figure in the Scotland side in spite of his lack of playing time at the club level, though, so his inclusion is not surprising here, although he is likely behind Brentford's Aaron Hickey on the depth chart heading into the tournament.
Everton duo return to play for Senegal
After a bizarre turn of events during the Africa Cup of Nations that saw them stripped of their title once the tournament ended, Senegal will have something to prove at the World Cup.
The squad includes the same two Everton players who left to play at AFCON this winter: Idrissa Gana Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye.
Neither player's inclusion is a surprise due to their importance to the Lions of Teranga side, especially Gana, who is the all-time leader in international caps for the country with 131. The 36-year-old midfielder will play in his third World Cup for Senegal.
Ndiaye will be making his World Cup debut when he steps onto the pitch for the first time in the tournament, having just made his international debut for Senegal back in 2022.
England's no.1 continues his run
This hasn't been confirmed yet as of this writing, but it would be a major upset if Tuchel went any other direction than naming Jordan Pickford to his World Cup squad.
Since debuting for the Three Lions in a friendly against Germany in 2017, Pickford has been a fixture in the England side, even as the national team has undergone changes at the helm.
The Everton goalkeeper has 82 caps for his country, all starts, and has allowed just 54 goals against 144 shots on target, with a save percentage of 77%.
He's likely to go into his third World Cup as England's no.1 goalkeeper.
