According to Fabrizio Romano, the Toffees are interested in signing former Arsenal player Brooke Norton-Cuffy before the end of the January transfer window, as David Moyes looks to reinforce his thin squad with quality players for a late-season push for a place in the European competitions.
Everton have relied on Nathan Patterson to be their main right back option in recent weeks, and he’s held up fine, though. Nevertheless, the Toffees are desperately lacking options there. Seamus Coleman has returned from injury, but he’s been incredibly fragile for years, so much so that he cannot be relied upon as a legitimate option as a starter.
Since leaving Arsenal in 2024, Brooke Norton-Cuffy has become a mainstay at Genoa, getting a sizeable minutes share with the Italian club. His transfer market value has ballooned to €16 million according to Transfermarkt.
Norton-Cuffy is considered a physical back who is spry on his feet and can provide width offensively, although he hasn’t produced elite numbers yet. Everton are in desperate need of that type of profile.
Patterson has been sufficient, but Jake O’Brien was Moyes’ favorite pick before the current injury crisis. With Jarrad Branthwaite back, there’s reason to believe O’Brien might go back to right back if no suitable option is signed.
Even if the Toffees decide not to sell Patterson, Norton-Cuffy provides competition and physicality and a complementary profile to Tyler Dibling and Iliman Ndiaye on the right.
Time will tell if Everton turn their interest into an offer, but he’d be a good addition if they can get a deal over the line.
