Prior to this season, Garner was seen by many fans as a rotation player that was good to have in case of injury issues. Well, injuries have in fact took place in Everton’s camp, but Garner is not just a rotational asset.
He’s been a staple for David Moyes in the double pivot. He’s gotten much better on the ball, and he’s a defensive genius. His passing game has also improved dramatically compared to seasons prior.
Garner has five goal contributions in 22 Premier League matches, and he has a 7.45 average rating on FotMob. In his most recent showing , he won possession 13 times against Aston Villa, a mark that has only been surpassed by one player so far this season.
With Jack Grealish out due to a heartbreaking foot injury, Everton fans needed some good news, and Garner’s extension definitely counts.
The Friedkin Group have taken over the club, invested into some young players, and are now renewing players that could take Everton into the next level.
Even with the right back and depth issue looming, it’s hard for Everton fans to not be excited about this showing of productivity from the new owners. Only time will tell of Everton keep on doing smart business like this, but if they do, then perhaps Everton could set their sights on European aspirations yet again.
