Everton were able to hold off relegation candidates Burnley at Hill Dickinson Stadium and secure a comfortable 2-0 victory, led by goals from James Tarkowski and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
However, it was goalkeeper Jordan Pickford who had the signature moment to wrap up the game, delivering an outstanding last-moment save to secure the clean sheet for the home side and continue the team’s streak of four consecutive Premier League clean sheets.

Pickford didn’t have to do much for the majority of the match, since the Toffees were in total control of the attacking momentum, but as Everton loosened their grip on the game in the dying minutes, Pickford was called into action, and he didn’t disappoint.
Pickford stuck his right hand outon a close-range effort and had the strength to parry the ball away, allowing an Everton defender to clear it from danger.
Just four days ago, Pickford delivered a piece of footballing excellence when he tipped Tonali’s volley in the late stages of Everton’s 3-2 win against Newcastle, earning international acclaim for his exploits. Combine that effort with his latest exploit, and it’s safe to say that it’s clear why Pickford is, and will probably stay, England’s number one option at the goalkeeping position, barring injury.
With this victory, the Toffees are standing alone in the eighth spot of the Premier League table, meaning that there’s still hope that they’ll be able to clinch European football for next season if certain results and coefficient calculations go their way.
And, if Pickford keeps delivering outstanding moments, then perhaps that hope isn’t entirely unfounded.
