No matter the state of the teams at the moment, the Merseyside derby is always a day on the calendar of note for supporters of both Liverpool and Everton.
The latest edition is the 247th matchup between the two sides, and the first in the Hill Dickinson-era of Everton Football Club, with the reverse fixture set to be played in mid-April at Everton's new ground.
Both sides are coming into the match on unbeaten runs, although the Reds have yet to lose in the Premier League this season, while Everton's streak contains last weekend's 0-0 draw to Aston Villa at home after successive wins over Brighton and Wolves.
Expect no love to be lost between the two sides, as Liverpool continues the hunt toward a second consecutive Premier League title, while Everton will aim to spoil their rivals' early run of success. As per usual, the contest is likely to feature some crunching tackles and a pair of clubs whose proximity to one another creates deep animosity.
Darren England will referee the match, a tough task for any official.
Match Notes
As noted earlier this week, Everton have not had much luck against Liverpool at Anfield. But the overall record isn't much better. Going back to October 2010, Liverpool has won 16 out of 33 matches, with 14 draws and just three wins for the Blues.
Everton are unlikely to have either Jarrad Branthwaite or Vitalii Mykolenko for this match yet again, and David Moyes mentioned that the club has "got a couple of other knocks within the camp but we'll see how they are" during his press conference on Friday.
The home side is more or less completely healthy, with only midfielder Curtis Jones considered doubtful to be part of the matchday squad. The expectation is also that Alexander Isak could make his debut for the Reds on Saturday.
In his career, Jack Grealish has faced Liverpool 11 times, winning four, drawing twice, and losing five times. He has, however, managed four goals and five assists against the Reds. David Moyes has just six wins in 44 matches against the Reds, losing 27, and drawing 11 times.
