After the bad news surrounding Jack Grealish, which is still up in the air as to just how long Everton will be without one of the club's best players, and the hopefulness around James Garner's impending contract extension, you'd forgive Evertonians for feeling a bit of whiplash.

The sense of which shoe will drop next, the good or the bad, is palpable among fans of the club, as a season that often felt quite promising has turned into one more focused on maintaining as much as possible. Stay mid-table and hope that more improvements can come in the summer.

Thankfully, the next bit of news appears to be positive, with Everton insider The Bobble reporting that midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is set to return to training.

Dewsbury-Hall left the match against Chelsea in December with an injury and has since missed seven games on the bounce, creating a gaping hole that, along with an injury to Charly Alcaraz, forced David Moyes to recall Harrison Armstrong from his loan at Preston North End.

And so the idea of KDH, who has been among Everton's best players this season, returning to the lineup in the near future will be one that excites the fans.

In 16 appearances for Everton, Dewsbury-Hall has amassed six goal contributions (4 goals, 2 assists) and has proved himself to be one of the club's more lethal options going forward. This was especially true when Moyes opted to play the 27-year-old as a deeper-lying playmaker rather than at the no.10, where he could use his skills as a ball carrier to take possession from an opponents end and start an attacking move.

His link up with Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye has been exceptional at times, leading to some of the better football Evertonians have seen in a while.

And so, while losing Grealish, especially for an extended period of time, will be a blow to Everton's ability to field its best lineup, getting Dewsbury-Hall back soon after that loss will help alleviate some of the problems.

This is especially true since Ndiaye is set to return from his run with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations, where he and Idrissa Gana Gueye helped bring home the trophy for their home country.

The injuries have continued to mount for the Toffees; this is true. But it does feel like the tides are beginning to turn on that front, and the hope is that the coming weeks will see the return of not only KDH, but also the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Charly Alacaraz as well.
