Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade has been linked with a potential move to Everton this summer, as the Toffees continue to seek out additional depth behind Beto at center forward.
The German is coming off a very efficient season for Stuttgart, scoring 17 goals across all competitions for the German club and adding two assists to his tally as he helped his team finish 9th in the Bundesliga, with just seven points between them and fourth-place Dortmond.
Woltemade's performance earned him his first German national team call-up, as he started and played 60 minutes in a UEFA Nations League match against Portugal just a few days ago. He did not score and managed just two shots, one of which was on target.
Of course, Everton are not the only club keeping a watchful eye on the player, as Brighton & Hove Albion, along with German giants Bayern Munich, are said to be interested in the player. Stuttgart are reportedly asking €40 million as a transfer fee in order to move the player on.
The striker was an academy player at Werder Bremen, where he played at several levels of the club, and also spent a year on loan at SV Elversberg, a season that saw him tally 15 goal contributions (10 goals, 5 assists) at the third tier of German football.
The counting numbers are impressive in and of themselves, but it's the efficiency with which he scores, the otherwordly pace at which he serves in balls for his teammates to score from, and his dribbling and progressive passing abilty that truly have teams salivating.
FBRef compares Woltemade to Newcastle's Alexander Isak, and if the German is even half as good as the Swede has been in his move to the Premier League, then the winner of his signature will be in an excellent position.
The pull of Bayern to a German-born kid is going to be tough to fight for either English club, but if he's looking for an opportunity to burst onto the scene, then it would make more sense for his development to go somewhere where he'll play.
While he plays exclusively in the center of things, either as a center forward, second striker, or attacking midfielder, there's no doubt that David Moyes can find a place for him every week.
If Everton were willing to make a big splash for Liam Delap, a move for Nick Woltemade would be a great way to end up.
