One change David Moyes must make for Brentford

Everton are coming off a scrappy 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, featuring an outstanding performance from James Garner that is surely turning heads across the league.

But there's another name that hasn't gotten has much discussion from that match who stood out in many ways: Tyler Dibling. The youngster came over from Southampton this summer and hasn't had many opportunities to shine, but the abence of Iliman Ndiaye due to AFCON has allowed Dibling to step into a starting role the last two matches.

It hasn't been perfect by any means, but there are plenty of passages of play from the young man that show his skill as a player and how, with a bit more freedom and confidence, Everton could have a top player on its hands.

That leads us to the change that needs to be made, assuming, of course, that the rest of the squad, as currently constructed, is back to being as fit and healthy as it can be.

Even if Jack Grealish is fully back from the illness that kept him out against Burnley and limited him to just 18 minutes against Forest, David Moyes cannot put Tyler Dibling back on the bench in favor of Dwight McNeil.

This is an argument we made before AFCON began. Dibling is not only a better player right now, but he's also younger and has a higher ceiling than McNeil, not to mention the fact that Dibling is scheduled to be at Everton until 2029, while McNeil is out of contract after 2027.

The other element is that McNeil is not as useful when asked to play on the right, where his severe left-footedness allows opposing defenders to know exactly how to hold him off: force him to his right foot. Dibling, on the other hand, while still naturally left-footed, has the ability to stretch the defense by using either foot.

This is especially crucial with Grealish, who needs to man the left or the half space near to the left of central midfield, meaning there's really no place for McNeil to operate or risk getting in Grealish's way. Not to mention whoever is playing in the no.10.

The fit just isn't there between Grealish, either Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall or Charly Alcaraz, and Dwight McNeil due to the limitations of the latter as a player.

And so, Tyler Dibling has to be the option at right wing until Ndiaye returns from AFCON. What to do with the young starlet after is a problem for another day.
