Former Everton favourite up for sale but return seems unlikely

Spurs forward Richarlison could be available for transfer this summer but the former Blues star will almost certainly not be coming back to Goodison Park.

The Brazilian left Everton at the end of June 2022 in a controversial deal that netted the Blues what was then seen as a vital £50-60 million.

That fee was widely considered to be under his real market value for an established Premier League player and Brazilian international centre-forward.

But then as now, Everton needed the money before the end of the football financial year to attempt to stave off the looming - but still then theoretical - threat of a PSR breach.

Of course as we all know, it was in the end not enough and the club paid the price last season with those two points deductions.

Since that transfer Richarlison has struggled to find a regular and settled starting place at Tottenham and has only shown in fits and starts what he can deliver in front of goal since he moved to North London.

Toffees supporters know what Richarlison is capable of and the talented if at times inconsistent forward remained a fan favourite among Evertonians.

His commitment and workrate for the team, especially, endeared him to the Blues faithful and even if he did not always produce the goals, he was willing to fight and battle for the cause.

All those qualities would actually make him a player that Everton manager Sean Dyche would probably be very pleased to have in his team now.

And, according to some reports Richarlison is apparently available for transfer this summer having failed to impress current Spurs boss Ange Postecoglu.

Certainly the Blues need more goals and firepower up front and while adding Iliman Ndiaye should help, it is still more than likely that Dominic Calvert-Lewin will leave this summer.

If Calvert-Lewin were to leave having Richarlison back might well be a solution as he certainly could lead the line and did so effectively at times when he was an Everton player.

However, I very much doubt this will happen, the Toffees couldn't afford the likely fee and a player returning to a previous club rarely works either so I don't see it taking place.

Again though, football is a funny old game and stranger things have happened so who knows.
