Philogene 'wants Everton' as Blues also eye Colombia winger

The transfer talk continues a-pace with the Toffees now apparently front-runners to sign Hill City's Jaden Philogene.

Everton have been one of at least three clubs who are keen on signing the 22-year-old Tigers forward and have been in the race for him for a week or so.

Ipswich Town appeared to be the club who has stolen a march on their rivals by submitting a bid for Philogene and his team-mate Jacob Greaves - who the Blues were also strongly linked with - and seemed to be in the driving seat to get a deal done for both players.

However, today rumours claim that in fact the young winger has instead chosen Everton and wants a move to Merseyside rather than East Anglia.

Of course all this is just a speculative story at the moment and we can only wait and see how developments unfold over the next few days and weeks.

Philogene would be a good addition based on his stats from last season as the former England youth international netted twelve times in the last Championship campaign.

A similar haul for the Toffees would be certainly welcome given how few goals Everton scored last season when they managed a total of just forty.

If a proposed deal for Philogene does not happen or falls through, the Blues instead turn their attention to a young Colombian star who has also been plying his trade in the Championship and is currently with his national team at the Copa America.

Yaser Asprilla - who has mainly used as a substitute for his country in the competition which is taking place at the same time as the Euros - has been at Watford last season and scored six times for the Hornets in that campaign.

Watford has been a productive well for Everton to draw from recently when it comes to finding talent as both Richarlison and Abdoulaye Doucoure have come to Goodison from Vicarage Road.

Again, this is just a rumour and it does seem highly unlikely that the club will be able to fund deals for both players.
