The first-ever Merseyside derby at Hill Dickinson Stadium will take place today, with Liverpool coming over from Anfield to take on Everton.
It's no secret that the Reds have controlled this matchup for the better part of recent history, with Everton winning just three times over the last 34 matches going back to 2010, against 14 draws and 17 wins for Liverpool.
And yet, the new stadium, despite the Blues' up-and-down start to its inaugural season, could represent a new hope in the rivalry, even if the tactics may look an awful lot like what we've grown accustomed to seeing from Everton on Sunday.
David Moyes is nothing if not pragmatic, and so the starting XI is unlikely to look much different from how it has in recent weeks. But that won't stop us from trying another thing or two here.
Everton's predicted starting XI vs Liverpool (4-2-3-1)
Goalkeeper & Defenders
Jordan Pickford (GK): Coming off yet another excellent match against Brentford, England's no.1 will likely be called upon for heroics again in Sunday's derby.
Vitalii Mykolenko (LB): Speaking of pragmatism, the Ukrainian fullback is that in spades. He'll be tasked, once again, with defending Mo Salah, something he's done well in the past.
Jarrad Branthwaite (CB): With just a few games left and Europe in the scope, Everton's top defender must remain in the starting XI if that dream is to be realized.
James Tarkowski (CB): Remains solid when next to a more athletic option.
Jake O'Brien (RB): Someday, Everton will have a proper right back that David Moyes trusts. Until then, O'Brien can continue to fill the space nicely.
Midfielders
Idrissa Gana Gueye (CDM): It's starting to feel like he and his midfield partner are becoming more and more interchangeable. Maybe a sign for the future?
James Garner (CM): Continues to impress week after week. His ability to move the ball will be crucial for this match.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (CAM): As we've often said, KDH is more effective when he closes the gap between the deeper-lying midfielders and the forwards. He'll need to seek the ball out against Liverpool.
Forwards
Iliman Ndiaye (LW): The Senegal international is still one of Everton's most important players. Will need to be smart, and tricky, with the ball when it finds him.
Tyrique George (RW): Shooting my shot here. There is no evidence to suggest that Moyes will do this, but the young Chelsea loanee looked good last week. Why not give him a real run?
Beto (CF): Looks to be on another one of those heaters like he was on to close out last season. He's got the power and agility to deal with a Liverpool center-back pairing that can be had.
