Everton are being linked with a surprise move for former Fulham striker Alexsandar Mitrovic, who could be leaving the Saudi League this summer.

The current club of striker Alexsander Mitrovic, Al Hilal, are supposedly considering sanctioning a sale as they seek the finances to add further marquee signings.

The experienced centre-forward is likely to make an unexpectedly quick return to the Premier League if he does indeed leave the Middle Eastern Kingdom, just a year after signing for £50 million.

Mitrovic is a striker Everton should have been looking at in the recent past. His goal-scoring record at Craven Cottage was good, and he has the tools to do a job for the Blues if he does return to England again.

In the last campaign he spent with Fulham during the 2022-23 season, the Serbian striker netted fourteen times in twenty-three starts, a very respectable total.

In addition, Mitrovic is powerful and dominant in the air, something that is important given that Everton will likely be putting plenty of crosses into the box and relying on set-pieces to provide a goal threat. Indeed, set-pieces have become a key part of many Premier League clubs' attacking strategy.

While Beto did step up and discover some good goal-scoring form once David Moyes took over from Sean Dyche in January, he still doesn't convince me that he can consistently provide the sort of threat the Blues so badly need up front.

Everton must try to find a striker who can score with the kind of regular, reliable consistency they have lacked ever since Romelu Lukaku left.

Mitrovic has plenty of proven Premier League experience, but therein lies the problem. He is 30 years old, and ideally, the Toffees should be looking for younger players to build around for the future.

And as always. if Moyes does decide that Mitrovic is a player he wants to pursue, he will probably face plenty of competition for the Serbian star with several other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, said to be tracking him.
