Everton U23’s currently chase the PL2 title with just 2 more games remaining, after winning their most recent game against Spurs and securing 3 points, the young Toffee’s now hold their future firmly in their own hands, and are up for the challenge.

The Spurs match was held at Goodison, and despite Everton clearly showing how serious they are taking the title race by using some first team players in the game, Everton were relatively quiet for the first hour.

Unsworth outed one of his strongest teams to date, we saw Galloway return from loan at West Brom, he played centreback and apart from a few mistakes here and there he had a good game, and looked strong. Mo Besic also saw game time after not playing since his injury during the Wayne Rooney testimonial game in the preseason, when Everton played Manchester United.

Besic looked like his old self by demonstrating strength, tenacity, and pulling off impressive passes. He even almost got into a fight too! Good Ol’ Mo. Another senior team member who played was Ademola Lookman, who was kept quiet by the Spurs defenders, and though he was caught offside too many times he did occasionally show fragments of his skill and talent.

Calvert-Lewin played and had a good game, I like him more every time I watch him play. He is quick and tries hard, he presses a lot for a striker, but most notably he seems to be an intelligent player. He brought others from the midfield into play like a false 9, and linked up well with the fullbacks at times.

Everton U23’s play Chelsea tonight at 19:05, and if they field a team as strong as the one that played against Spurs then we can safely assume another 3 points. Everton only need 2 points to be clear from 2nd place Manchester City, so a win is all we will need to claim ourselves League Champions.

Up the Ev.
