Gylfi Sigurdsson is reportedly one of Everton’s biggest transfer targets this summer, but how likely is he to end up at Goodison Park?
Despite the number of official and unconfirmed signings already made by Everton, don’t expect them to stop looking for new players anytime soon. In what could prove to be one of their most significant offseason’s in quite some time, the Blues are determined to build on a successful first season under Ronald Koeman.
In that respect, one name Everton have been linked to in recent weeks, is Gylfi Sigurdsson. In fact, he is considered one of their biggest transfer targets of the summer.
The question is, what would it take to convince Swansea to part company with Sigurdsson? The Swans finished seven points above relegation last season and will need every advantage they can get, to once again avoid the drop in 2017/18.
Just entering the prime of his career, the 27-year old was a shining light for Swansea this past season, with his nine goals, 13 assists and general creativity. As such, you imagine it would take a major transfer fee to land him.
So how much would it take, to persuade Swansea to let Sigurdsson leave? Consider these comments made by chairman Huw Jenkins, as reported by Sport360:
"“It’s hard to suggest what sort of value Gylfi Sigurdsson has in today’s market. But to us he is priceless.”"
Of course, Jenkins doesn’t literally mean priceless. Every player has their price and it would be hard for Swansea to turn down a big transfer fee, as the financial boost could mean all the difference to them.

From reviewing different reports, you imagine Sigurdsson would cost at least £20 million, which is a figure Everton can definitely afford. Interestingly though, it should be noted he signed a new four-year contract last summer, after BBC Sport reported the Blues were offering £25 million for him.
Again, this seems like a figure Everton could afford, as long as they (still?) consider it to be a worthwhile gamble. And that’s the key really – how high are they prepared to go and what will Swansea consider a justified price?
Overall, the thought of Sigurdsson and Yannick Bolasie bombing down opposing wings must be an enticing one for Everton fans. However, it remains to be seen what it will take to make this vision become a reality.
