Could Everton or Liverpool be set to swoop in and steal top prospect Joshua Zirkzee from Arsenal’s and Manchester United’s clutches?

You know Everton are in the ascendancy, when they’re getting linked to the same players as the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool. Just like the good old days hey?

Well, it’s happened again, at least according to a report from Sport Witness. Although we’ll admit you might have to take a bit of a leap of faith with this one.

Referencing Soccer News, Sports Witness writes that top prospect Joshua Zirkzee arrived in England on Wednesday, to complete his move to a Premier League club. Of late, it has been assumed he would join Arsenal or Manchester United.

However, there has been a bit of last-minute intrigue added to the situation. This is as a result of Zirkzee landing at John Lennon Airport, rather than Manchester or one in London.

In turn, this has led to the possibility the 16-year-old might be joining Everton or Liverpool instead. There is added incentive to link the youngster with the Toffees, due to their Dutch connection through Ronald Koeman.

Signing Zirkzee would certainly represent quite a coup, especially given the assumption he was going to join the Gunners or Red Devils. He is highly-rated and last season scored 33 goals in just 27 appearances, for Feyenoord’s under-17 side.

In reality, the centre-forward landing at John Lennon Airport is probably just purely circumstantial. There is nothing else concrete connecting him to the Blues (or Liverpool), although we would have absolutely no issue with being proven wrong on this occasion.
