Everton: Has the Gylfi Sigurdsson saga finally concluded?
By Paul Taylor
The Sunday Express claims Swansea City are finally prepared to compromise with Everton, over the £50 million price tag slapped on winger Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Everton‘s pursuit of Gylfi Sigurdsson must feel like it’s lasted forever to Blues fans. However, as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait.
In that respect, it appears the Sigurdsson saga is set to finally end. At least according to the Sunday Express.
As reported by Neil Fissler, Swansea City have apparently finally agreed to compromise on their valuation of the Icelandic international. The Swans had previously slapped a £50 million price tag on him, but Everton were reluctant to match this fee.
However, the Toffees have now stepped forward and offered £40 million, with another £5 million in add-ons. Fissler writes that Swansea, who returned from their US tour on Sunday, will reluctantly accept the offer.

In some respects, Swansea had to bring this unsavoury situation to an end, even though they didn’t want Sigurdsson to leave. However, despite him still having three years left on his current deal, he made it clear he wanted to move to Merseyside.
This decision included backing out of Swansea’s US tour, just hours before they were due to fly to Philadelphia. At this point, it was clear the writing was on the wall.
Of course, most Evertonians will likely wait for an official announcement, before celebrating. In theory though, Sigurdsson becomes the latest exciting addition in what has been an almost surreal summer for Blues’ fans.
If and when the 27-year-old finally signs, Everton will be getting an exciting player, who has grown during his three seasons in South West Wales. The 2016/17 campaign was arguably his best yet, as he scored nine goals, added 13 assists and just generally created chaos for opponents, as he helped Swansea avoid relegation.
And this is why the Swans are so disappointed to lose their two-time Player of the Season. In that respect, their loss is definitely the Blues’ gain.
