Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Tom Davies, but how realistic is it to expect the midfielder to leave Everton?

Everton have done a fantastic job thinking of the long term this summer, by bringing in top-rated young talent such as Josh Bowler and Lewis Gibson. It gives plenty of reason for Evertonians to be excited about the future of their beloved club.

However, is it possible they could be set to lose one of their own talented youngsters some time soon? It depends how much stock you put into new speculation, concerning Tom Davies.

As per a report from James Beavis of Football Fancast, Chelsea are considering a potential move for the talented Blues midfielder. Despite already making several signings, manager Antonio Conte apparently still wants to add four new players.

Chelsea’s interest in Davies is entirely understandable. He burst onto the scene during Ronald Koeman’s first season in charge, making 24 appearances in the Premier League, including 18 starts.

The 19-year old also scored twice, including an effort against Manchester City, which earned him Everton’s goal of the season award. At the end of the 2016/17 campaign, he was named as the club’s Young Player of the Year.

Davies quickly became comfortable with the hectic pace and pressure of the Premier League. As noted by Beavis, this was illustrated by his impressive 82 percent passing accuracy.

With all this said, what are the chances of the Liverpool-born youngster actually leaving Everton? In reality, not much, partly because he only signed a five-year deal last summer.

Of course, contract length doesn’t always mean much, if a player actually wants to leave. However, all indications are Davies wants to stay as much as the Toffees would like him to.

Also consider the report itself, which says Chelsea are only eyeing a potential move for the central midfielder. Clubs are always considering players, but it doesn’t actually mean they’ll actually make a play for them.

As a final note, Football Fancast writes that Chelsea actually have several other targets they are more interested in, ahead of Davies. When taking all the available information into account, it seems extremely unlikely he will be leaving Everton any time soon.
