Everton: Yannick Bolasie sprinting towards first team return
By Paul Taylor
Yannick Bolasie has taken to running with former gold medallist Darren Campbell, as he looks to make good on his vow to return for Everton this year.
A few weeks back, we reported on how Yannick Bolasie was convinced he would be back playing for Everton, before the end of 2017. At the time, you had to wonder if this was possible, as he continued his rehabilitation from a serious cruciate knee ligament injury.
However, as they often say, a positive mindset can be an extremely powerful tool when it comes to achieving something. In that respect, the latest news surrounding Bolasie certainly supports this argument.
As reported by the Daily Mail‘s Amitai Winehouse, the 28-year-old has returned to running and is increasing his speed with regularity. This process includes completing a series of sprinting drills with former Olympian, Darren Campbell.
Bolasie recently told the Daily Mail that while he was delighted to be back running, he was not yet up to his top sprinting speed. Certainly, racing against a former Olympic gold medallist is one way to remedy this situation!
Campbell seemed impressed with the progress of the French-born player. He took to Twitter and wrote:
"‘You made an old man have to drop some gears!!! Top session on the road to recovery. Unbelievable progress, keep the faith and stay positive. I’m going to have to train harder.’"
While Everton continues to strengthen their squad, it will be further boosted whenever Bolasie returns. No doubt Blues fans will hoping he can continue where he left off before his injury.

After signing for a reported £25 million, the winger settled in quickly. His work ethic was apparent as he scored once and added four assists, before suffering his injury during his 13th Premier League appearance.
To get an idea of how positive Bolasie is, he even saw his injury as a blessing in disguise. He believes the long layoff will improve his game and give him the composure he has been looking for.
Unsurprisingly, the Democratic Republic of the Congo international is still convinced he will return before the end of 2017. Speaking to Winehouse, he said:
"“I’m confident I’ll be back before then (Christmas). It’s not really an issue unless something plays up with my knee, then it’s different. With the way I’m feeling now, I’ll comfortably be back by then.”"
