Everton: Ademola Lookman is a player in demand
By Paul Taylor
Ademola Lookman is reportedly wanted by Derby County and a host of other clubs, but what is best for Ronald Koeman and Everton?
Ademola Lookman is used to getting noticed. Look no further than his debut for Everton, last season.
Fresh off being signed from Charlton Athletic, Lookman made his first appearance in a Blues’ jersey, coming on in the 90th minute versus Manchester City. Then, with virtually the last kick of the game, he scored, to cap off a sensational 4-0 win.
The 19-year-old has also already experienced success at the international level with England, having scored four times in 15 games at the Under-20 level. This includes three goals during the recent 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, as he helped the three lions win the tournament.
With all this in mind, Lookman is receiving attention from a host of teams, interested in signing him. This apparently includes Derby County.

As per a report from the Daily Mail‘s Simon Jones, Derby manager Gary Rowett is keen to loan the Wandsworth-born youngster, preferably for the season. After selling Tom Ince to Huddersfield Town, Rowett wants to add pace up front.
However, any aspirations to bring Lookman on board, will be influenced by what Ronald Koeman does with Aaron Lennon. As we previously reported, Watford are eager to sign the winger.
As Jones writes, Lennon is now in discussions with the Hornets. If a deal can be agreed — whether it be permanent or just on loan — Lookman will be less likely to leave Goodison Park.
You could argue Lookman would be better served staying on Merseyside. He’s already shown he’s capable of holding his own, despite stepping up two levels from League One.
However, the former member of Waterloo FC’s youth setup also needs regular first team football, to help with his development. Such a scenario may not be feasible with the Blues, at least this season.
For what it’s worth, as reported by Shane Callaghan of HITC, Evertonians believe Lookman should stay with the Toffees, rather than go out on loan. If Lennon goes to Watford, they will likely get their wish.
From our point of view, we know Koeman is a smart manager, who will do what’s best for the club. However, in our humble opinion and taking all the available information into account, it would be better if Lookman stayed with the Blues.
