Everton looking to sign Lucas Perez on loan
By Paul Taylor
Everton are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal striker Lucas Perez, but would he really solve their scoring issues up front?
If you’re unfamiliar with Lucas Perez, this might be about to change. Everton are apparently interested in signing him.
As per a report from Sky Sports, the Blues are looking to sign the Arsenal striker. However, it would only be considered a short-term fix, with a season-long loan being the likely outcome.
Perez has only been with the Gunners for one year, but is already frustrated by his lack of opportunities to play. In that respect, he still managed to score seven goals in just 21 overall appearances last season.
The question is, would the 28-year-old really solve the Blues’ scoring issue up front? Even when he has played regularly in previous seasons, he has never been a consistent goalscorer.

Consider that only twice, has Perez reached double figures. His best output came during the 2015/16 season with Deportivo, when he scored 17 goals in 37 total appearances.
In addition, the Blues have to consider the Spanish-born player’s own preference. Sky Sports notes his desire is to return home and once again play for Deportivo.
Representative Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle pretty much laid this out, when speaking to Sky Sports News. He said:
"“I think the £10.9m (€12m) that Deportivo La Coruna have offered Arsenal is a great deal. Deportivo received £12.7m (€14m) when they sold him to them last summer.“They are giving everything to make this transfer possible. Lucas wants to play but he has a contract with Arsenal. I am hopeful an agreement can be reached. Lucas wants to play in Spain.”"
The Gunners are currently considering Deportivo’s offer, along with Everton’s proposal. In truth, if the Blues miss out on Perez, it shouldn’t be considered too much of a loss, no matter how keen Ronald Koeman is to sign another striker before 11:00 pm tonight.
