As Everton prepare to face Burnley on Super Sunday, we provide you with all the latest information ahead of the clash at Goodison Park.

After Thursday night’s late drama, Everton find themselves needing to rebound, to get an increasingly frustrated fan base back on side. In theory, Burnley at home is the ideal opportunity to return to winning ways.

For a start, the last time the two sides met in April this year, the Blues won 3-1. In addition, Ronald Koeman’s team have won 11 of 13 home games this year, best in the Premier League.

If we even want to throw history into the mix, Everton come out on top again. As noted by BBC Sport, the Toffees have only suffered one home defeat to Burnley since 1963.

Here’s the problem with a theory though; it’s just that – a theory. Additionally, statistics can often be manipulated to support any argument.

To prove this point, consider that Burnley have actually done well on their travels so far this season. In fact, again noted by BBC Sport, if they can avoid defeat on Sunday afternoon, it will be the first time they have started a top flight campaign unbeaten through four games, since 1966.

And it’s not as if the Clarets have had an easy start to their travels. The three road games include a win at champions Chelsea and a draw away to Tottenham.

In addition, despite facing the most shots in the Premier League up to this point, Burnley still have the joint-fourth best defence in the top flight. Combine this with Everton’s indifferent start to the 2017/18 campaign, and it should prove to be an intriguing battle at Goodison Park.

Having said that, the bookies still see a Blues victory as the most likely outcome. You can find all the latest odds at sportsbookreview.com, by clicking here.

In this respect, you can assume the bookies are looking at history, as part of their evaluation. Everton have won all three of their previous home Premier League games against Burnley.

As you’ll read in our predicted lineup article, we believe Oumar Nissae should start. However, as per Sky Sports, an interesting stat shows that 83 percent of his Premier League goals have actually come as a substitute (five of six).

Sticking with the goal theme, it will be interesting to see how the game plays out, if Wayne Rooney scores at Goodison Park. Whenever this has happened previously, Rooney has always won, whether he’s playing for Everton (eight goals) or Manchester United (three).
