With Manchester United reportedly interested in Beni Baningime, Everton will offer a new contract to keep the young midfielder on Merseyside.

While the Everton senior side struggles to find form, the same can’t be said for the Under-23 team. They won the inaugural Premier League 2 title last season and are currently in second place — behind Liverpool of all teams — as they look to repeat as champions.

The Blues have made a concerted effort to build up their youth setup and are reaping the benefits. Inevitably, this has resulted in other big name teams keeping an eye on developments.

One player in particular who has attracted attention, is Beni Baningime. As reported by the Daily Mail‘s Simon Jones, Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in the youngster.

As a result of this interest, Everton are preparing to offer a new deal to Baningime, to secure his long-term future at the club. His current contract is due to run out in June 2018.

As noted by Jones, Blues Under-23 manager David Unsworth compares the 19-year old to Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante. He had some excellent performances for the side last season, when they won the title.

Baningime first joined Everton’s Academy at the age of nine. At the end of last season, he won the club’s prestigious Keith Tamlin award, which is given to the player who best exemplifies attitude and application.

The highly-rated Baningime can either play as a central or defensive midfielder. Born in Congo, he is also eligible to play for England.
