As Everton look for help up front, Kasper Dolberg could be the right fit with his combination of age, potential, goal record and international experience.

The Echo‘s Tom Cavilla published an interesting article on Tuesday, offering five realistic striking options for Everton to consider in January. The list included Edin Dzeko, Moussa Dembele, Michy Batshuayi and Raul Jimenez.

However, the name which stood out most to us was Kasper Dolberg. As such, we decided to offer our thoughts on why he makes the most sense for Everton.

At 20-years-old, some may believe he’s too young to help the Blues right away. However, it would be a mistake to think this, with him already proving that if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.

Last season was a breakout campaign for Dolberg, as he played regularly for the first time. He had an impressive strike-rate of 16 goals in 29 league games and finished with 23 overall, in 47 total appearances.

This season has also started pretty well for the Ajax youngster, with three goals in 10 games. In addition, he made his full international debut towards the end of 2016 and has gone on to score once in three appearances for Denmark.

Dolberg is in an excellent position right now with Ajax, as his personal trainer is a certain Dennis Bergkamp. With some people comparing him to Marco van Bastern, due to his size and finishing skills, the sky’s the limit.

As such, in our mind, it makes perfect sense why Everton should make a move for the former Silkeborg IF player, when the transfer window reopens. In that respect, they were actually linked to him during the summer, but (obviously) nothing materialised.

One other aspect which could potentially help the Blues is Dolberg’s current contract, which is set to run out after the 2017/18 season. As such, Ajax might want to cash in during January, if they can’t agree a new deal before then.
