Louis van Gaal has confirmed Everton have not contacted him regarding the vacant manager’s job, but should the Blues make that call?
With the search for the next Everton manager dragging on, the list of candidates was always going to grow. You can now add Louis van Gaal to the list of potential options.
As per Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail, van Gaal has emerged as a surprise candidate to take over the Blues, at least according to the bookies. However, whether Everton are actually considering him or not, is another thing.
That’s because the 66-year-old has confirmed to Sportsmail that the Blues have not contacted him at this time. As reported by Gaughan, he said: “I’ve not yet been asked.”
Van Gaal has not worked since being sacked by Manchester United at the conclusion of the 2015-16 campaign. Despite winning the FA Cup, several of the players allegedly accused him of being clueless with his tactics.
Regardless, the former midfielder enjoyed living in Cheshire and is apparently open to offers from England. Whether he would consider an offer from Everton, is unknown.

Rational or not, you imagine the Blues hierarchy would be conscious of the reaction from fans, if they were to bring in another Dutchman, especially so soon after Ronald Koeman. And yet, van Gaal’s resume demands serious consideration.
The Amsterdam, Netherlands native has enjoyed success all around Europe as a manager. This includes winning league titles with Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Van Gaal also enjoyed a certain degree of success as manager of his country. This included taking the Netherlands to a third-place finish in the 2014 World Cup.
Marco Silva remains Everton’s preferred choice to take over as manager. However, with Watford remaining committed to keeping him, the Blues should at least contact van Gaal for a discussion about taking over as manager.
