Everton will reportedly compete with Liverpool and Chelsea in January, to sign international striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Prior to the season, a lot of people were impressed with the ambition Everton showed, in attempting to return to their glory days of the 80s. And even though things haven’t exactly gone to plan so far, this ambition will show itself again next month, when the transfer window reopens.
As reported by the Mirror, the Toffees are set to make a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January. However, they face a tremendous battle, with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and AC Milan also looking to bid for the striker.
The interest in Aubameyang is entirely understandable, after his excellent start to the 2017-18 campaign. He already has 11 league goals and 19 overall, in 20 appearances for Borussia Dortmund.
However, this is nothing new for the Gabonese international, who has an eye-bulging 123 goals dating back to the start of the 2014-15 season. He is renowned for his blistering pace, and his versatility means he is also capable of playing on the wing.

The Guardian named Aubameyang as the eighth-best player in the world as recently as 2016. Overall, it’s fair to say he is just what EFC are looking for, after failing to adequately replace Romelu Lukaku.
Whether the 28-year-old would want to sign for the Blues, is another matter altogether. For a start, unlike Chelsea and Liverpool, they cannot offer Champions League football.
Regardless, the Toffees are right to register their interest in Aubameyang, with him apparently eager to leave Borussia Dortmund. As Wayne Gretzky once famously said: “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.”
