Everton considering move for Barcelona’s Paco Alcacer
By Paul Taylor
Everton are reportedly looking at attempting to sign Paco Alcacer, after the striker’s lack of playing time since moving to Barcelona.
One thing that was evident about Everton during their summer activities, was the ambition. Buoyed by generous funding, it was clear they were making a push towards returning to their glory days during the 1980s.
And while the season didn’t start as planned, at least the Blues are showing signs of life under new manager Sam Allardyce. In the process, their ambition is showing signs of emerging again, at least if the latest speculation is anything to go by.
As per a report from the Daily Mail‘s Sam McEvoy, Everton are eyeing up a move for Paco Alcacer. This is somewhat surprising, considering the forward plays for Barcelona.
However, Alcacer has struggled to find playing time since joining the Catalan giants on a five-year deal. To date, he has made just nine starts since moving from Valencia in August last year.

As a result, the 24-year-old might be looking to leave to ensure more first team action. He is concerned his lack of minutes will impact him negatively, with next year’s World Cup on the horizon.
Whether Barcelona would be willing to let Alcacer go, is another matter altogether. Despite his lack of minutes, he has still managed to score 13 goals and provide six assists during his time with the five-time European Cup winners.
McEvoy notes that if Everton were successful in signing the Spanish international, he would provide immediate competition for Sandro Ramirez. In fact, the addition of Alcacer could edge Ramirez towards the exit door, given how much he has struggled since joining the Blues in July.
It’s tough to imagine Alcacer ending up with Everton, although there would be no issue in being proven wrong. Regardless, the ambition is palpable and fans should be excited about what lies ahead for their beloved club.
