The rumours about Wayne Rooney’s future continue to gather momentum as several papers claim he is leaving Everton in the summer.

We mentioned this story yesterday but today there are several further rumours about Rooney departing Everton for pastures new, specifically the MLS.

According to the Sun Rooney is off to play for MLS side DC United but only if that club, Everton and Manchester United can agree terms for paying his wages.

This is because Manchester United are still contributing to his huge wages as part of the deal that took Rooney back to Goodison last summer. And now Everton will be required to pay £50,000 a week to facilitate his move to the States.

This is on top of the contract he has apparently agreed with the MLS side worth £3 million a year. Have you got all that!?

These astronomical figures will strike most Everton fans as further proof of just how far removed from real life footballers have become.

It also seems to indicate that Rooney’s desire to play for the Blues is questionable. He obviously doesn’t feel much loyalty to the Toffees if he’s ready to jump ship after just one season.

However the Daily Star is saying that Rooney will only make a decision about his future when he knows whether Sam Allardyce is staying as manager.

The paper claim Rooney wants to stay but needs assurances over his role in the team going forward.

His relationship with Allardyce has been difficult ever since the last Merseyside derby when he was substituted early in the second half.

So it seems that he is waiting for the outcome of the long drawn out saga surrounding Allardyce’s future before he makes his final decision.

In yet another twist to all this speculation the Sun also claim that the players are already preparing to welcome Marco Silva as the new Blues boss!

It all just adds to the frankly embarrassing sense of utter confusion and instability at Goodison at the moment.

No one at the club, the hierarchy, team management, players or fans seem to know what direction the club is going in or can agree how to take the Blues forward.
