The rumour mill is certainly churning out stories about Everton at the moment and they mostly focus on possible additions at the back.

We reported yesterday that Everton were being linked with Rennes central defender, Ramy Bensebiani.

Now another two defenders are being reportedly tracked by the Blues as the seemingly endless search for a new central defender continues.

These latest stories come in the Liverpool Echo and the highly regarded Italian sports paper, Corriere Dello Sport.

The Echo is reporting Everton have been impressed by the performances of the Colombian centre back Yerry Mina. And the Blues have already made contact with his current club Barcelona about a possible move for the player.

Mina of course scored that late headed goal that forced extra-time and then penalties in England’s last match on Tuesday night.

He is well over six-foot tall and certainly would add height and power to Everton’s backline as well as offering a threat at the other end. Mina is obviously a real handful from set-pieces as he proved against the Three Lions.

The Echo are claiming that Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for him and so Everton have allegedly registered their interest.

Mina has not featured much for Barcelona since signing for the Catalan giants in January. He made only 12 appearances overall with just 4 in La Liga last season but even so he still has some interesting statistics.

His pass completion rate was around 92%, not bad for a central defender. And he also has very solid overall defensive stats.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

Considering how well he has done at the World Cup it’s likely he will be quite sought-after and so Everton may well have a fight on their hands to get him.

The other defender the Blues are supposedly looking at is the Sassouolo player Gian Marco Ferrari. According to Corriere Dello Sport Everton are in a two-way battle with West Ham if they want his signature.

He was on loan at Sampdoria last season and had a solid all-round campaign scoring 2 goals.

All this follows the alleged interest the Blues had shown in the Croatia player Domagoj Vida just a few days ago. Liverpool have also been linked with a move for the centre-half as well.
