Reports in the Daily Telegraph say that new Arsenal boss Unai Emery is ready to jettison several players including Danny Welbeck. Could the England forward be a player for Everton to consider?

As the roundabout of rumours drags on Arsenal are, like Everton, looking to trim their squad size and Welbeck is one player who could well be moved on.

Many of the players being connected to the Blues seem very unlikely prospects and the chances of them actually joining Everton are slim.

Although Welbeck would certainly not be a high-profile star signing, he is a very experienced Premier League performer.

The 27-year-old didn’t play very much last season for Arsenal only making 12 starts for the Gunners and 16 substitute appearances. However he still notched 5 goals despite that lack of regular football and playing in several different attacking positions.

He is a player with good pace, strength and versatility and he does seem to have a knack of popping up and scoring goals when they are most needed.

With the possible departure of Yannick Bolasie and Henry Onyekuru having joined Fenerbahce for the season on-loan, Everton may need the option of a left-sided attacker that Welbeck offers.

Although he went to the World Cup with England, Welbeck didn’t get much playing time at all and so will be fresh. He would also perhaps up for a new challenge if it was clear he didn’t have a future at the Emirates.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

Plus he would be re-joining his former team-mate Theo Walcott at Everton,.

Talking of England World Cup players who probably won’t be as fresh, Sky Sports are reporting that Bayern Munich are not interested in trying to sign Jordan Pickford. They indicated the German giants had been monitoring him but won’t be making a move.

After his heroics for the Three Lions this summer I reckon we can expect more of these rumours to pop up every now and then. Pickford is probably one of the England players to have improved his reputation the most at the tournament in Russia.

But as we’ve said on this site before the Blues have to resist any such advances for their star keeper.
