As Everton prepare for the club’s first summer singing with Brazilian Richarlison edging closer to a move to Goodison, there are reports today that the Blues have been offered the chance to sign former Chelsea player Andre Schuerrle.

The Daily Mail are claiming that Everton are one of several clubs who have been offered the chance to sign Schuerrle from Borussia Dortmund.

Fulham and Lazio in Italy are also considering bidding for the German winger according to the Mail.

Schuerrle has been released by Dortmund from playing in their US pre-season tour (where of course they beat Liverpool yesterday!).

The Dortmund winger had a solid season last term with the Bundesliga side although he didn’t play that often. He played 18 times in the league scored once and created 4 other goals.

A breakdown of his performances indicate his best position is playing in a wide left-sided attacking position. This is also Richarlison’s best position and so it seems that as Everton are about to spend nearly £50 million on the Watford forward, Schuerrle doesn’t seem a very likely signing.

However perhaps the Blues should take a closer look at the German forward. He rates very highly in several areas such as key passes and finishing. He is a versatile attacking player who also enjoyed a strong finish to the last season.

And at 27 he is likely at his peak and would probably be available at a reasonable price.

In other news today there are reports that the Manchester City midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko might be considering a possible move away from the Premier League champions.

The Manchester Evening News are reporting that Zinchenko is not certain that he still has a long-term future at City and that might alert other clubs.

The Kevin de Brunye look-a-like made only limited  appearances for City last season, just six in the Premier League in total.

However he impressed with his versatility, energy and work rate. Although he is nominally a midfielder he mostly played at left-back when he was in the City team.

He wants more regular football and it’s not certain he will get it this season at the Etihad Stadium, especially as Benjamin Mendy is fit again.

Zinchenko scores highly in most aspects and while Everton are trying to sign the Barcelona left-back Lucas Digne, if that deal falls through, Zinchenko is a player who could fill that position very well whilst also providing further attacking options in midfield too.

The Blues also do need more creative options in midfield and players like Schuerrle and Zinchenko might meet that need and at an affordable price.
