Everton may not be able to sign Cengiz Under after Arsenal and Manchester United enter the race to sign the Turk.

Prince Rupert’s Tower earlier covered a story linking AS Roma winger Cengiz Under to Everton. The club board had enquired about the Turkey star and were conveyed that Under will cost €30 million. Since then, Everton have been working on other possible options while keeping an eye on Cengiz Under. AS Roma’s stance is clear that they won’t back down from their asking price. The Merseyside club was also linked to Denis Bouanga, Jose Callejon and Adam Marusic.

Under is one of the brightest jewels in the Serie A who has the capability to be one of the world’s best. Acquiring a talent such as Cengiz Under would have been a major coup for the Toffees. However, the board was slightly hesitant to splash €30 million for the 22 year old winger. He would have been a perfect fit at the right wing for Carlo Ancelotti’s men. The laid back approach towards signing Under has cost them dearly in the transfer market.

According to the Daily Mail, Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal have entered the race for the Turkey international. Manchester United are aiming to sign Borussia Dortmund sensation Jadon Sancho but with the German club demanding in excess of €100 million, the Red Devils are working on a Plan B. Under’s asking price is substantially lower than what BVB are asking for Sancho and with the Corona Virus plunging the financial structures at the club, €100 million is beyond limits.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta also likes Cengiz Under and is in favour of signing Roma due Under and Justin Kluivert in the summer transfer window. Arsenal were said to be interested in Ryan Fraser as well but the Scotsman’s preference is said to be the Goodison Park. Roma is willing to sell, the question is who will win the race for Under. Everton are in desperate need of reinforcements at the right wing and Under would have done a fantastic job but with Arsenal and Manchester United entering the transfer battle, Merseysiders do not hold a realistic chance of signing the 22 year old speedster.  The North Londoners and Red Devils are in a better position to offer Cengiz Under European football next season compared to the Toffees.
