Everton sent scouts to Croatia to study Amer Gojak of Dinamo Zagreb.

Every other day, news of a new midfielder or a playmaker is linked to Everton. However, most of the times there’s not much substance in it. This time, some interest has been registered for Amer Gojak of Dinamo Zagreb. To know more about the player, Everton scouts were sent to Zagreb to study Gojak against HNK Hajduk Split on July 12.

Everton midfield is currently wobbling, failing to make any impact during games. Carlo Ancelotti and Marcel Brands have enough evidence that with the current midfield, Everton is getting nowhere close to the top teams in England. The woes of Tom Davies aren’t a good sign and improvements are mandatory.

Everton have been linked to some big names like Allan, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, James Rodriguez but with no major success in their pursuits, the Toffees may take an alternate option to bring competent players who have flown under the radar. Amer Gojak ticks the profile of being unknown to most of Europe but is very talented.

According to Croatian media outlet Net, scouts from three teams were present in Stadion Maksimir on July 12 to scout Amer Gojak of Dinamo Zagreb in the tie against HNK Hajduk Split. Talent spotters from Everton, Atalanta and Fiorentina were attending the game.

The 23 year old has been at Dinamo Zagreb since 2015. Since Dani Olmo’s departure, the 23 year old has become the prime source of creation and imagination in the team. The Bosnian has played 26 games this term, registering 2 goals and 5 assists so far. His all round performances has helped the team maintain their dominance in the 1.HNL, swiftly transforming into the engine of the team.

However, the game didn’t go down too well for the playmaker. His chance to impress the scouts might have gone in vain as he collected two yellow cards in a space of six minutes to be sent off in the 51st minute of the game. There have been initial round of talks between Dinamo and Fiorentina already but nothing has been agreed upon.

There is an increasing air of uncertainty in Zagreb over Gojak’s future. He is likely to leave Stadion Maksimir this term, the only question is where will he be headed to. Everton do not have a complete report on the Bosnian playmaker but if the club continues to scout him, a decision can be made.
